What is the Wooster Area Safety Council?
The Wooster Area Safety Council’s mission is to promote health and safety at work, home, and in the community by providing education, programs, and resources to help reduce personal and economic loss associated with accidents, injuries, and health hazards. The Safety Council hosts monthly meetings to share information so employers can recognize, educate, adapt, and perfect occupational environments and conditions. We take pride in connecting you with experts who can provide information you need to make your workplace safer.
The Safety Council partners with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) in order to provide Safety Council members access to top notch health and safety resources. Safety Council members are dedicated to creating safe work environments for their employees and the surrounding community.
What are the benefits of joining the Safety Council?
Members of Safety Council are invited to attend monthly meetings where they will learn from industry experts the best methods for improving workplace safety. Meetings address a wide range of workplace issues. Prior meetings have provided insight on the prevention and treatment of injuries sustained on the worksite, health concerns related to mostly sedentary “desk” jobs, and mental health.
Because of the information gleaned that can help improve their workplace, Safety Council members who qualify are eligible to receive 2% rebates on the BWC premiums. In order to qualify, members must maintain private or public BWC insurance and also need to have representatives from their company present at no less than 10 of the year’s 12 Safety Council meetings.
Finally, Safety Council members enjoy a delicious lunch and the opportunity to network with members of the community during our monthly meetings.
